From intubation to the book: 4 years after almost dying from Covid, writer launches book with memories of hospitalization days

-

Just over 4 years after the WHO declared a global emergency and pandemic for the coronavirus, many effects that the virus brought to our planet are still felt by those who had the disease. Whether physically or psychologically, going through this moment left irreversible marks on each person’s life.

Willing to express himself in the form of art, musician and writer Nelson Coelho designed the project “Pandelirium – Um Relato Multimídia da Covid-19”, a deep dive into his life during the beginning of the pandemic when, at the age of 60, he contracted Covid-19. illness.

In a world full of uncertainties and challenges, the stories brought by Nelson in his work show how he dealt with the worst disease to terrorize the planet in the last century. “Pandelirium – A Multimedia Report on Covid-19” is a unique multimedia project: illustrated with paintings created by the author himself and with five songs performed by the group Dialeto – of which Nelson is the guitarist and creator – a Prog-Rock band created in 1987.

The author reports, from the perspective of different artistic expressions, the details of his long hospitalization, including the periods of intubation, unconsciousness and recovery, with a strong appeal to his delusions, sensations and existential reflections.

“The impulse to share this story came spontaneously, because whenever I met family or friends, they expressed interest in knowing what had happened. As I narrated the events, I realized the importance of recording these experiences. After all, they are dark memories that deserve to be remembered and understood. The songs that accompany the book capture the atmosphere of tension experienced during these moments.” – Nelson Coelho, author of the book.

With the challenge of tempering the emotion of memories with the fluidity of the narrative, Pandelirium is not just another story about the pandemic; it is a journey towards the essence of the human condition. Throughout the 96 pages of this book, accompanied by his paintings and in synergy with the Dialeto playlist, (which can also be heard on the CD included with the book) allows us to witness Nelson’s fears, courage and determination as he faces a of life’s biggest challenges: uncertainty.
