President of the Bauru Association to Combat Cancer (ABCC) for more than 20 years, Lyenne Berriel Cardoso died, aged 81, on Thursday night (25), in Bauru.

A retired teacher and also known for her social work in the city, she was hospitalized and was fighting bladder cancer.

His death was announced on social media by his son Guilherme Berriel, councilor in the municipality. “Woman, wife, mother, educator and exceptional human being,” he wrote.

In addition to him, Lyenne also leaves behind her children Pili and Lyzete Cardoso, as well as her grandson João Marcelo. In 2021, she lost her son Marcelo to Covid-19, 21 days after saying goodbye to her husband, engineer José Cardoso Neto, who was Secretary of Works, in Bauru for the same reason.

“She was very sweet. She left a legacy of love and solidarity”, highlights her niece Cristina Berriel Aidar, current president of the Bauruense Association to Combat Cancer and who succeeds her in the mission of caring for those facing the disease.

The wake will be held from 8am to 3:30pm at the Terra Branca Velatory Center, on block 5 of Gerson França Street. Afterwards, the body will be taken to the Jardim dos Lírios Cemetery, where it will be cremated.
