A Solemn Session of the City Council of the city was held in Matão, last Friday night (22), to award titles of Honor of Merit and Matonense Citizenship. The mayor of Araraquara, Edinho Silva, was one of those honored.
The proposal to honor Edinho was presented by councilor Dr. Luiz Pelanca (PT) and approved by the Matão Chamber on September 11, 2023, justified by Edinho’s involvement in regional projects of interest to Matão and Araraquara, including his role in the pandemic of Covid-19.
Edinho commented on the honor and said that it is a great responsibility to receive the title of Matonense Citizen. “It is the greatest honor for those who were not born in the city, which is to recognize us, the honored men and women, as sons and daughters of the city. It is also an immense responsibility, so that we continue working for the population of Matão, Araraquara, the region, the State, and Brazil. And this responsibility will be honored by working hard. Remaking our ability to dream, to transform dreams into practical actions. Working hard so that the reasons that made us receive the Matonense Citizenship Title are intensified and that we can improve people’s lives, building a better country”, he said.
The delivery of the tribute to the mayor of Araraquara was carried out by councilor Dr. Luiz Pelanca; the mayor of Matão, Cido Ferrari; the president of Matão City Council, Sidnei Calabres; and businessman Antônio Aparecido Galli. Councilors from Matão and municipal secretaries from Matão and Araraquara were also present.
In total, 12 people were honored.
