Author reveals that EVERYONE in the industry knows who abused Richard Gadd, creator of ‘Baby Reindeer’

‘Baby Reindeer’ became one of the most recent hits of Netflix by portraying a real story lived by the Scottish actor and comedian Richard Gadd when he was the victim of a stalker and sexual predator in his early 20s, as well as dealing with the trauma Gadd suffered after being abused by a well-known television writer.

Now, in a recent episode of your podcast The Rest Is Entertainment (via deadline), the acclaimed author Richard Osman (‘The Thursday Murder Club’) revealed that “everyone” in the entertainment industry knows who abused Gadd.

“As you said, there is a very, very serious thing going on with a comedy producer and Richard Gadd, who, as you said, did the show in Edinburgh and has been very open to people in the industry about who this person was, so that everyone in the sector knows who he is”, he told.

Osman continues: “Now a completely different person is identified, someone who worked with Richard Gadd before, but it is definitely not the same person. But the actor they cast in this role looks like this other guy, the guy who was falsely accused. And it’s a very bizarre thing, because this guy has received death threats and had to release a statement saying: ‘it’s not me’. And it’s not him, because people in the industry know who he really is.”

In the plot, Gadd plays Donny Dunn, who ends up becoming Martha’s obsession (Jessica Gunning), a woman he meets in a bar where he works, awakening in her a suffocating interest that could destroy both of their lives.
