Ana Maria Braga cries when interviewing the owner of her dog Joca, who died after Gol’s mistake

Ana Maria Braga was moved when interviewing João Fantazzini, guardian of Joca, a Golden Retriever dog, who died due to an error by Golllog, GOL’s transport company. The conversation took place live on Mais Você, on TV Globo, this Thursday (25).

The animal was supposed to go from Guarulhos, in São Paulo, to Sinop, in Mato Grosso. Although, Joca was sent to Fortaleza, in Ceará, where he would have been left in the sun, in a box, until he died. Gol confirmed the dog’s death and admitted that it was caused by an “operational failure”.

“We know what the company of a friend is like. I call him son”, said Ana Maria, moved. “I said I wouldn’t cry because I think it transcended what I was feeling. Because it was always me and him. I bought Joca because I was always alone and dreamed of having a Golden”, said the owner.

The last meeting

João said he last saw Joca alive inside the Gollog box. “I put him in the box, they sealed the box and he left,” he said. The owner said that the box had the name of another animal and that there were labels from other destinations.

Joca’s owner also said that the veterinary report indicated that the animal could survive up to two and a half hours of travel. However, Joca spent more than eight hours in the box. Upon learning of the error, João went to meet the dog. “When I arrived, I saw him dead in the box,” he said.

João says that Joca was wet because they had thrown water inside the box. After what happened, the tutor says that Gol’s president, Celso Ferrer, called to apologize for the mistake. “I don’t know what to do, because Gol didn’t contact me. Only on that day did the president of Gol call me and apologize. I said he had nothing to do with it, because the one who killed Joca was his operative. They didn’t give me any support. The only support was giving a snack to whoever was with me at the time”, he said.

During Mais Você, João also made a point of sending a message to the president of the airline. “I don’t want you to call me to talk about the deal. I want you to stop this, you killed my dog. The only thing I hope is that they know how to treat dogs well and don’t take them like anyone else,” he said, crying.

The tutor also revealed that he will take legal action, but did not give details about the measures that will be taken by him against Gol.

GOL mourned death

On Wednesday (24), the airline also suspended the transportation of animals in the hold of aircraft for 30 days. In a statement, Gol also lamented the dog’s death and said it offers support to the animal’s owners.

“GOL sympathizes with the suffering of Joca’s guardian and his family. We understand his pain and are deeply sorry for the loss of your pet. The company is offering all the necessary support to the tutor and his family from the outset. The investigation of the details of what happened is being carried out with full priority by our team”, informed the company.
