‘Baby Reindeer’ became one of the most talked about series of the last week as it portrayed a real story lived by the Scottish actor and comedian Richard Gadd when he was the victim of a stalker and sexual predator in his early 20s.

In the plot, he plays Donny Dunn, who ends up becoming Martha’s obsession (Jessica Gunning), a woman he meets in a bar where he works, awakening in her a suffocating interest that could destroy both of their lives.

And the repercussion was so great that several fans began an investigation to try to discover the identity of the real woman who inspired the plot and the other characters involved.

In the real case, Gadd He reported during some shows that he was pursued for at least four years by the woman who nicknamed him Baby Rena.

Still, it’s a true story – it comes from an emotional truth, and I think that’s what people relate to most.”

However, Gadd reinforces that the objective of the series is to repudiate abusive behavior and harassment and not to glamorize people who do this.

At the end of the adaptation, Martha is arrested after confessing to stalking and harassment, being sentenced to nine months in prison, in addition to receiving a restraining order.

In the real case, the fate of the pursuer is uncertain, as Gadd told the The Independentwho did not insist on her arrest, demonstrating empathy and viewing the case as a matter of mental illness.

“I can’t emphasize enough how much of a victim she is in all of this. Stalking and harassment are a form of mental illness. It would have been wrong to cast her as a monster because she is not well and the system failed her.”
