Brazilians who go to Madonna show on Copacabana Beach (RJ) will have a special metro operation. According to the concessionaire, the Copacabana stations – Cardeal Arcoverde, Siqueira Campos and Cantagalo – will extend opening hours on the day of the event, May 4, until 4 am.

The other stations of the metro system will operate normally, from 5 am to midnight, and, after hours, the locations will only be open for disembarking the show’s audience. To facilitate travel, the Metro will leave Line 2 operating between General Osório/Ipanema, without the need to transfer to Copacabana.
“For going to and from the event, the recommendation is that the public anticipates and uses the Siqueira Campos/Copacabana station to get to and from the show. There will be no sale of cards at Cardeal Arcoverde/Copacabana station. Those who are smart already separate payment by contactless, avoiding queues and boarding quickly”, said Metrô.
A Madonna’s arrival in the capital of Rio de Janeiro was confirmed in March, consolidating the queen of pop’s fourth time in Brazil. She was in the country in 1993, 2008 and 2012. The free show in Copacabana will mark the last performance of “The Celebration Tour” – a tour that celebrates the singer’s 40-year career – and will be the only one in all of South America.
In total, 1 million people are expected at the presentation, which should boost Rio de Janeiro’s economy by R$293.4 million. For the weekend of the show, the city hall has already identified dozens of extra flights, in addition to the increase in arrivals at bus stations. In some places, hotel occupancy is almost 100%.
