Former player Neto, current presenter on TV Bandeirantes, was ordered by the São Paulo Court to pay compensation for moral damages to a woman he offended.
The case initially occurred in 2016. Neto recorded a video and called the woman a “biscate”. The publication, in fact, went viral and had 7 million views. The former athlete explained that the woman owned a brothel in the interior of Mato Grosso do Sul.
“A hug for the whorehouse (…), which was really cool. Everyone put it on Facebook and my wife fucked me”, said Neto, at the time.
Neto spoke about the matter again in 2019 and 2021 and confirmed that he had not taken the position. However, the woman sued the former athlete for slander and defamation. She further explained that her establishment was a bar and that she closed the place because of the repercussions caused by Neto.
The defense of the TV Bandeirantes presenter highlighted that he apologized and emphasized that he had no intention of harming her.
The lawyers also presented images of the establishment and said: “Neto didn’t tell any lies”, about the place being a brothel and not a bar.
The argument, however, was not accepted.
“The facts narrated allow the defendant to be held responsible for the moral damage suffered by the plaintiff, as the fact that she is the owner of the brothel does not qualify her as a ‘gig’, etc., joking terms thrown by the defendant in the eyes of third parties, without any need”, he highlighted the judge.
The compensation was set at R$15 thousand reais.
