Thanks to a well-balanced mix of lethality, protection, mobility and survivability, the Lynx 120 is the perfect additional battlefield asset for users of the Lynx platform. With ready-to-use components, meticulous engineering reduces vehicle weight, while customizable protection packages complete the package.

The vehicle architecture has been simplified and provides an open “plug-and-play” capability for future upgrades such as high-tech combat systems. At a time when conventional solutions and concepts have reached the limits of their performance, the new tank Germany’s war was designed to provide maximum lethality and firepower on rails paired with the latest defense technologies, technologies to keep adversaries at bay.

Using the Lynx KF 41 modular chassis and a large-caliber scalable turret concept, the Lynx 120 is a high-performance solution, housing vast growth potential and guaranteed overperformance.

Not long ago, Rheinmetall Defense Australia revealed a combat support vehicle (CSV) variant of the Lynx: now there is also the Fire support version. The basic idea behind the Lynx 120 design concept is to provide a combat system that delivers maximum operational performance in combination with logistical advantages within a reasonable time frame at a realistic cost.

The vehicle’s main armament is a Rheinmetall 120 mm smoothbore cannon, derived from the main armament of the Leopard 2. It can fire state-of-the-art DM11 programmable high-explosive (HE) projectiles.

Its secondary armament includes a coaxial machine gun. Additionally, the commander’s independent weapons station will feature an additional .50 cal machine gun. A 360° camera system with automatic target detection and tracking reduces team workload in all operational scenarios.

New tank can defeat anti-tank missiles

Special protective modules enable mission-specific response to ballistic threats, improvised explosive devices (LED), high explosive penetrators, and artillery fire, and can be assembled quickly with limited tools.

Additionally, the Lynx 120 can be readily equipped with the proven Rheinmetall Active Defense System, or ADS, to defeat rocket-propelled grenades and anti-tank missiles. Additional shielding packages and active protection systems can be supplied upon request.

Several nations are interested in acquiring Germany’s new battle tank as a next-generation replacement for their aging fleets. The platform is currently a strong contender in Australian and Slovak IFV modernization plans and is competing for the US Optionally Manned Combat Vehicle (OMFV) program.
