Storm affects agricultural production and industry paralyzes in Rio Grande do Sul

The heavy rains that hit the Rio Grande do Sul Since the beginning of the week, they have affected agricultural production and paralyzed the activities of some companies operating in the region. The loss has not yet been calculated by the federations, nor by the companies.

On Friday the 3rd, Braskem began an action that involves the shutdown of some of its industrial plants in the Triunfo Petrochemical Complex. Among the shutdowns are some production lines for resins based on polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP)

Gerdau, the largest Brazilian steel producer in the country, halted activities at its Charqueadas unit and the Riograndense unit. The two Gerdau factories will remain idle until this Sunday, the 5th.

The same happened with the bus manufacturer Marcopolo, which decided to temporarily suspend activities at two factories in the city of Caxias do Sul, in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul.

Pulp producer CMPC and paper and packaging manufacturer Irani also reported that they were affected by the storms.
