The Labor Electronic Domicile (DET) system facilitates communication between the Labor Inspection Secretariat of the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MET) and companies. The tool notifies the employer about bureaucratic issues and allows the sending of electronic documents.

Small businesses and individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs) should pay attention, as registration in the system becomes mandatory from next Wednesday (1st/5). The DET is made available free of charge by the Ministry of Labor and Employment and is available through the gov.br account. There’s no need to worry, as here is a step-by-step guide on how to enter the DET, the available features and the value of any fines.

How to register with DET?

  • DET can be accessed via the website https://det.sit.trabalho.gov.br. Login is done through a gov.br account, with silver or gold level authentication.

What services are available at DET?

  • Registration data: where the employer can consult and edit their contact details, both individuals and legal entities. This information must remain up to date and is requested upon first access. If you wish, you can register a password that will be requested in emails sent by DET to guarantee the authenticity of the message.
  • Mailbox: It is in this tab that the employer views messages exchanged with the Labor Inspectorate regarding administrative acts, tax actions, subpoenas and notices.
  • Notifications: In this environment, the employer finds the content attached to the notifications and the items to be delivered to the Labor Inspection. In notifications, it is possible to send the requested documents and monitor the analyzes carried out.

What are the deadlines?

In March, the ministry published the notice with the registration schedule for entrepreneurs in the DET system. The tool is already in use by companies with annual revenues exceeding R$78 million in 2016, and not opting for Simples Nacional. From May 1st, enterprises opting for Simples Nacional, individual employers, individual rural producers, non-profit organizations, public bodies and international organizations must start using DET.

Is there a fine for those who do not register with the DET?

The DET is valid for every company subject to labor inspection, whether or not it has an employee. When failing to comply with DET rules, the entrepreneur will be subject to fines starting at R$208.09, with a maximum value of R$2,080.91. DET was regulated by Decree 10,854/2021, with changes to Decree 11,905/2024.

DET is different from DTE; understand

The Electronic Tax Domicile of Simples Nacional and MEI (DTE) is a communication system for companies that opt for Simples Nacional, including MEIs, to consult electronic communications sent by the Federal Revenue of Brazil, States, Municipalities and the Federal District, while the DET mediates communication with the Labor Inspection Secretariat (SIT).

All those opting for Simples Nacional are automatically included in the DTE. There is no need to request membership to the system. It is possible to access the DTE through the Portal Simples Nacional, eCac and the gov.br account. For DET it is necessary to register.
