The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, admitted that the review of public spending in 2023 did not work. In an interview with CNN Brasil last Saturday, the 30th, she said that, although the federal government has adopted measures to combat fraud and inefficiency, it has not yet made progress in assessing costs.

A next step, according to the minister, will be the review of Proagro. This is insurance paid to rural producers who have suffered crop losses. Spending on the program jumped from R$2 billion to R$9 billion. “Something is wrong,” said Tebet.
