During the parade celebrating Victory Day in Moscow’s Red Square, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin once again accused the West of forcing wars against his country and said that Russian forces are “always ready” for possible conflicts.

Victory Day is celebrated in Russia on May 9, in reference to the Nazis’ surrender to the Soviet Union on this date in 1945. Russians call World War II the Great Patriotic War.

“Revanchism, the mockery of history and the effort to justify the current followers of Nazism are part of the general policy of Western elites to always instigate new regional conflicts, inter-ethnic and inter-religious conflicts and contain sovereign and independent centers of world development”, said Putin, reiterating the argument that his war against Ukraine aims to “denazify” the neighboring country.

“Russia will do everything to avoid a global confrontation. At the same time, we will not allow anyone to threaten us. Our strategic forces are always ready for combat,” said the Russian dictator, according to the Tass agency.

“Russia is now going through a difficult and remarkable period, the destiny of the homeland, its future depends on each one of us”, he added.

Recently, the dictator threatened to use nuclear weapons against NATO countries after French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the sending of troops from the Western military alliance to Ukraine cannot be ruled out.

This week, Putin took the oath to begin his fifth presidential term, after elections in March without the participation of the main opposition figures – dead, arrested, exiled or prevented from running.
