In Alma Gêmea, a 2005 soap opera that will be shown again on Globo in Vale a Pena Ver de Novo from next Monday (29), Marcelo Faria plays Jorge. In an interview with NaTelinhathe actor remembers that the plot was a success and that he had the opportunity to do his first job outside of the role of a conquering heartthrob.

In Walcyr Carrasco’s serial, the veteran plays a clumsy waiter who arrives in the city of Roseiral to work at Vitório’s (Malvino Salvador) restaurant after getting up to no good in Rio de Janeiro. Part of the comedy core of the story, he draws attention to his tight and outdated clothes.

“I did the work with Katia Achcar, preparation officer, and we tried to create a slightly clumsy character as a cover for the trickery he covered in deceiving women. It was fun. Jorge came in more halfway through the plot and went to the comic core from Emilio [Orciollo Netto] and Fernanda [Souza]. In addition to master Emiliano Queiroz. It was a gift from Jorginho and Walcyr”, he comments.

For Marcelo Faria, the most difficult scenes were precisely some of the ones that viewers liked most: those in the pigsty. The artist explains that these sequences were complicated because the cast needed to have double outfits to record: “But at the same time we had fun. Crispim always threw Mirna’s suitors into the pigsty, Jorge was the only one who threw Crispim there.”

His partnership with Fernanda Souza went beyond the small screen and could be seen on the back cover of the CD Internacional de Alma Gêmea, which he remembers fondly. “Success on the streets. The result was the cover of the CD Internacional. This was a gift for the actor. It was the first character I played without being the conquering heartthrob”, he highlights.

Jorge de Alma Têmea, Marcelo Faria explains why he doesn’t watch his old works

Still in conversation with the NaTelinha About Alma Gêmea, Marcelo Faria remembers that one of the parts of the soap opera that became most memorable for him was the sequence that ends with the expulsion of Jorge de Roseiral.

“The final sequence of Jorge being arrested after trying to get married for the ninth time was remarkable. Several wives and several children arrived from different parts of Brazil demanding the husband. It was very funny and he ended up expelled from the city”, he details.

The actor admits that rewatching an old work involves a lot of nostalgia, but reveals that he doesn’t usually watch all the projects in full: “It’s always nostalgic, but I don’t try to watch the entire sequences. The days are busy and the projects swallow us up. Sometimes Sometimes, I look for certain scenes to put on social media.”

“This was the only time I worked with Walcyr. I love his work and the way he writes. We spoke by phone these days for a theater project I’m developing with Pedro Vasconcelos”, adds the veteran, who is producing the production of Tieta do Agreste at the theater and will be the protagonist of a feature film called Thousands of Solitudes.
