Xiaomi 15 could be the first device on the market with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Some of Qualcomm’s partners usually attend the annual Snapdragon Summit event to reveal which devices will come with the flagship chipset. Historically, Xiaomi has been the first to launch phones with the latest SoC.

Now, an informant cited that the Chinese manufacturer has exclusive rights to reveal the first cell phone on the market with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This is in line with a rumor from a few days ago about the Xiaomi 15 already being tested with the top-of-the-line chipset.

According to informant Yogesh Brar, Qualcomm’s new chipset will be announced in the second half of the year and the companies that will present models with it at the event will be the same as last year, with Xiaomi being the first to have a model with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

However, the leak also mentions that soon after, OnePlus and iQOO will be the next brands to reveal top-of-the-line devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will only be launched in 2025.

Possibly, these models will be the OnePlus 13 and the iQOO 13, which will be direct competitors to the Xiaomi 15. Although Samsung is one of Qualcomm’s closest partners, it presents the Galaxy S line months later.

With Xiaomi citing its competitive prices, it will be interesting what the Chinese manufacturer does with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, as Qualcomm has cited that it will be its most expensive mobile chipset to date.

The Xiaomi 15 line should start be tested internally this April. Commenting on the matter, informant Digital Chat Station revealed that Qualcomm has already sent some units of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip to the Chinese manufacturer.

With this, Xiaomi can now assemble the first prototypes of high-end smartphones to mainly adjust the cooling system, since there are rumors that the chipset will be able to reach a clock speed of 4 GHz.

Additionally, sources say that Qualcomm now requires devices equipped with the new SoC to have higher capacity batteries. Therefore, the chances of the Xiaomi 15 line having 5,500 mAh units in all models are high.

DCS also managed to confirm, with more than one Xiaomi employee, that the Xiaomi 15 line will have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the display produced by BOE.

This panel will have a resolution of 1.5K on the standard model and 2K on the Xiaomi 15 Pro and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The primary camera of all models will be 50 MP and will be Leica certified, something that is already expected.

However, the more expensive versions will feature a new periscope camera, but there aren’t many specific details about this sensor yet.

For now, we must remember that all information involving the Xiaomi 15 line is just a rumor.
