Gabriel Miranda lost in UFC debut to Frenchman Benoit Saint-Denis
newly hired by UFC, Gabriel Miranda climbed into the most famous octagon in the world this Saturday (3), in Paris (FRA), to face Frenchman Benoit Saint-Denis and seek a debut with the right foot in the organization. But, despite the promising start, the Brazilian, known as ‘Fly’, ended up defeated by the European fighter, by technical knockout, in the second round of the dispute, to the delight of the local crowd.
With the result, Saint-Denis – who was the first Frenchman to enter the UFC Paris octagon this Saturday and had the massive support of the crowd – reached his second straight victory in the organization. In turn, Gabriel Miranda had his debut frustrated and now has a record of 16 triumphs and six defeats as a professional.
The first round started in an electrifying way, with both athletes looking for the fight. The Brazilian managed to mix well the striking and the attempts to take the fight to the ground, his specialty. On the other hand, Saint-Denis took a lot of danger with his powerful hand blows, including some dangerous rounds. In the final part of the first stage, the Frenchman managed to open a good advantage in the confrontation, coming close to a knockout.
What seemed imminent at the end of the first round materialized in the opening seconds of the second stage. With a sequence of powerful punches, Benoit Saint-Denis returned to swing the Brazilian, taking him to the canvas, and finishing the fight with a technical knockout with a few more attacks on the ground and pound.
