Maique, from Minas, makes his dream come true with Bernardinho and Serginho in the national team

The men’s volleyball team is preparing for the Nations League (VNL) and the Olympic Games in Saquarema (RJ), with coach Bernardinho back in charge. In addition to the coach, the group has another new addition: two-time Olympic champion Serginho, considered one of the greatest liberos in history, occupying the position of assistant coach.

For anyone who plays the same position he played, the opportunity is golden. Also libero Maique, from Itambé Minas, spoke about the realization of two dreams: working with both Serginho and Bernardinho.

“I’m living a dream of working with two of my idols: Bernardinho, who is a phenomenal guy, a multi-champion coach, and Serginho, who was an exceptional player and is a wonderful person who is contributing a lot to his experience. It’s been wonderful to be able to live this dream and work with them is indescribable”, commented Maique, who also spoke about exchanging daily experiences.

“Having Serginho following our day to day training and work, with everything he represents in volleyball, is an extra motivation, especially because he is an inspiration, not only for me, but for everyone. He is a guy who is always in high spirits, helps with training and gives good tips”, added Maique.

Brazil debuts in the VNL on the 21st, against Cuba, and has the advantage of playing at home, in Rio de Janeiro. Next, the team faces Argentina (23/5), Serbia (24/5) and Italy (26/5). See Brazil’s complete table in the competition.
