Salvador hosts the second edition of the ITF BT J100 New Generation, a competition that is part of the Beach Tennis world youth circuit. The tournament will start this Friday, the 10th, at the D7 arena, at Shopping da Bahia. Bahian competitors are competing in the men’s and women’s categories.

There will be approximately 200 athletes from all over Brazil competing in the Under-12, Under-14, and Under-16 categories, which guarantee points in the national ranking of the Brazilian Tennis Confederation at GA level, in addition to the Under-18 category, which gives points towards the world ranking. youth team of the International Tennis Federation.

In the main category, Paulo Consiglio, 19th in the world and from Marechal Deodoro (AL), and Adryan Porfirio, from Natal (RN), form the double seed 1. They will be challenged by Pedro Barros, champion of the BT 10 professional tournament in Petrolina (PE), athlete from the capital of Bahia, who is looking for the trophy in the Men’s Doubles and also in the Singles and Mixed Doubles.

“It is a great honor for the athletes from Salvador to host this tournament for the second time. My expectations are very high since it is the biggest Brazilian youth championship in which the best athletes in the category will be present and the level will be very high, this helps to evolve even further by encouraging beach tennis in Bahia”, highlighted Pedro. In Mixed, Eduardo Barros will play with Julia Fernandes, also from Bahia.

In the Under 14 category, Bahians Rafael Gordilho and Bernardo Gil, both from D7, form a team from Salvador in search of the trophy.

“Last year I played juniors for under-12, it was a great experience to play my first Brazilian tournament and win all three categories, this year it’s a great challenge with great Brazilian athletes from under-14 and I’m very happy to participate”, said Gil who will also compete in the mixed doubles alongside Isabeli Camurugy, D7 athlete. Cousins ​​João Vaz and Lucas Vaz, both from Bahiano de Tênis, will fight for the trophy as will Gabriel Mazza, from RRBT and Rodrigo Filho, from AABB.

In the female Under 14, Giovanna Boro, from São Paulo, second in the national ranking, will be the main favorite alongside Antonella Pazzotti. Bahian women Carurugy and Giovanna Ribeiro, from AABB, will be in the running, as will Mila Gouveia, from D7, and Nina Fernandes.

In the Under 12 category, Daniel Cruz will work with fellow Bahian Joaquim Barros, from D7. Renato Barros will play with Lorenzo Carlo, from D7. In the women’s category, the D7 athletes, Isabela Carvalho and Rafaela Uzeda, form a pair. The two will also play the Singles bracket. In Mistas, Rafaela will play alongside Renato Barros.
