Arthur Gomes praises Pedrinho’s attitude at Cruzeiro and sends a message to Ronaldo < In Attack

Arthur Gomes gave the first statement from a Cruzeiro player about the sale of the club to businessman Pedro Lourenço. The striker praised the arrival of the retailer, which owns the Supermercados BH chain and bought 90% of the shares in Sociedade Anônima de Futebol Celeste.

This Tuesday (7/5), Raposa played its first match after the SAF negotiation. Cruzeiro beat Alianza 3-0, at the Armando Maestre Pajaveau Stadium, in Valledupar, Colombia, in the fourth round of Group B of the Copa Sudamericana.

Pedro Lourenço bought SAF from Ronaldo

Pedro Lourenço bought Cruzeiro from the hands of former center forward Ronaldo Nazário. Fenômeno remained in charge of the club’s management between December 2021 and April 2024.

The sale of its percentage in SAF was sealed on April 29, at a meeting at Toca da Raposa 2, in Belo Horizonte. On the occasion, Ronaldo explained the reasons that made him negotiate Cruzeiro and indicated that he will leave the life of owner of football clubs.

“I have to thank Ronaldo. I came to Cruzeiro because of the greatness of the club and because Ronaldo was with this project, which worked, in my opinion. I’m happy to be here, and now with these new people who arrived to raise Cruzeiro’s level”

Arthur Gomes was Cruzeiro’s most expensive signing since the implementation of the SAF, at the end of 2021. Raposa bought the striker in July last year, for R$16 million. He previously played for Sporting, in Portugal.

Pedrinho’s first measure as owner of Cruzeiro was to reformulate the celestial board. The businessman hired Alexandre Mattos to head the football department, which will also be attended by Paulo Pelaipe.

Former defender Edu Dracena, multiple champion as a Raposa player, will be the new technical director. Created by Santos, Arthur Gomes praised the hiring of the director, who is an idol of the São Paulo team.

“Edu Dracena is an idol that I had there at Santos. I was able to follow him well at Santos, so I’m very happy to be able to share the work with him. And it’s about continuing to win victories that make everything easier”, said the number 11 in the mixed zone.

Arthur Gomes scored for the second consecutive game at Cruzeiro. In the previous match, against Vitória, in the Brazilian Championship, the number 11 scored the third goal of Celeste’s 3-1 triumph, at Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte, in the fourth round.

In ten months at Raposa, Arthur has seven goals and five assists in 39 matches.
