Christian Horner believe that your friend Adrian Newey will be out of Formula 1 for “a while” and will not sign a contract with any other team in 2025.

After the bombshell of Newey’s departure from the Milton Keynes team at the end of this season, everyone was wondering what the technical ‘guru’ would do. There is no shortage of offers and practically no one in the paddock hides the fact that having him on the team would be a dream.

While Helmut Markoconsultant for Red Bull, believes that we could see Newey ‘in green’ in reference to Aston Martin, Horner sees the engineer far from F1: “If you look at Adrian’s statements and look closely at what he has said, he has decided that he has arrived It’s time to stop after almost 35 years, now that we have a very strong team and very deep engineering,” Horner said in Miami.

Faced with the possibility of him moving to a rival and putting the Milton Keynes team in trouble, as he is free to join another team in 2025, Horner insisted: “I believe Adrian will take a break from Formula 1. At 65 years, you can’t blame him. He’s earned that right and what he decides next will be his choice.”

One of the theories to explain Newey’s departure would be the differences that had arisen between him and Horner, but the director guarantees that it has nothing to do with him: “I spoke a lot with Adrian about this and his stance is very clear. We enjoyed We have a great relationship and we will continue like this, we are friends as well as co-workers. He did a lot for this team and it saddens us to see him go.”

“Nothing lasts forever. Adrian stayed at Williams for seven years, at McLaren for another seven and we managed to have him for 18 years. Therefore, I believe we have enjoyed great moments on and off the track, it has been a wonderful journey with Adrian. He’s a friend, he’s my children’s godfather and we’ll continue to be friends.”

Finally, Horner confirmed that Newey is no longer seeing Red Bull’s technical development and that in fact he will not be at all the races: “Well, Adrian is very focused on the RB17, so he didn’t attend any meetings over the weekend , apart from those focused on strategy. He doesn’t have access to any data and isn’t designing any pieces.”

“He will be focused on the RB17 until the end of his contract and will be present at some races until the end of the year, focusing on those where we will have RB17 customers.”
