The interest in assuming the mantle of the five-time world champion would come from one of Nike’s two main competitors, which has been with the National Team for 28 years. According to Mattos, the sources did not say which of the two brands made the proposal five times larger than the confederation’s current contract with the North American brand, an amount that is around R$177 million annually, without the payment of sales royalties. of shirts.

In the proposal received, considered the largest ever made by a national team, in addition to the high values ​​involved, the contract would include participation in sales and the opening of exclusive stores for the Brazilian National Team.

The journalist states that the CBF recently approached Nike to try to improve the contract, observing the movement in the world market, with the arrival of Germany to the brand and the renewal of France. According to Mattos, the CBF had used the Brazilian market as a standard, in which Flamengo, for example, earns 35% royalties. However, Nike denied it at the time.

However, realizing the interest of its competitors, the Swoosh recently contacted the CBF again, sending one of the company’s main executives here to talk to the confederation’s top brass. The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, did not want to speak to the journalist, “out of respect for the partners”.

The CBF’s current contract with Nike runs until 2026, therefore, it is difficult for the Brazilian team to use jerseys other than the North American brand in the next World Cup. After? We’ll have to wait.
