Sprint qualifying in Miami almost had a big accident. Oscar Piastri was entering Turn 1 on a fast lap when Valtteri Bottas was slow to get out of the way. Fortunately, both managed to avoid contact thanks to quick reactions, but a penalty could await the Finnish driver, or at least his team.

Piastri was not happy with the Sauber driver. “If that’s not punishment then I don’t know what is,” the Australian said over team radio.

Bottas, on the other hand, stated that he had no idea that Piastri was coming and did not have time to act faster. “Damn, this is too late, man. I had no idea,” he told his team.

The two drivers were summoned by the FIA stewards. A final decision will be made after analyzing the images and radio communications between the pilots.
