Professor from Santa Maria wins Brazilian vice-championship in master volleyball

The teacher and project manager of the Associação Voleibol Futuro (AVF), Jean-Pierre Chagas Avila, became runner-up in Brazilian masters volleyball in the 45+ category. The competition was held in Santos (SP), started last Saturday and ended this Tuesday (30).

Avila was the setter for the Apade Volleyball Team, from Pará. The invitation to join the team came from Marcio Carnieletto, also from Santa Maria, his former student. In the title decision, Apade faced Corinthians, from São Paulo, and was defeated by 26 to 24 and 28 to 26.

In total, the Brazilian Master Santos de Vôlei brought together around two thousand athletes from 120 different teams.

According to Jean-Pierre Chagas Avila, during the tournament a tribute was paid to the volleyball athletes who won silver medals for Brazil at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, with the presence of names such as Renan Dal Zotto, Montanaro and William, among others. .
