Danni Suzuki presented the awards ceremony for the 6th edition of the Brazilian Ocyan Big Wave Award. The event brought together important names from the surfing world in Barra da Tijuca such as Lucas Chumbo, Michelle Des Bouillons, Kalani Lattanzi and many others. During the event, she spoke about her passion for surfing and the importance of women in the sport.

With a blue look that resembled the sea Danni formed by pants and Danni led the event alongside the big names in surfing. “I’ve had these pants and this kimono for a long time and wear them on several occasions. This look is very adaptable, you open it, put on the bikini and go. I love clothes that you can wear both during the day, at the beach, and at night, at an event,” he said.

Totally at ease, as she is also a surfer, the actress met several friends at the event and explained that surfing is one of her favorite sports. “I can’t have a constant routine of going to the beach, but I’m regular. Whenever I can, I go. Because I feed off of it. I don’t even need to go into the sea just to paddle, without catching any waves. The best conversations and clarifications happen with my friends in the water. It’s almost like meditation when I’m alone and therapy when I’m with someone, because I go into the sea just to talk,” she said.

And when it comes to the female presence in big wave surfing, Danni is emphatic: “All of us human beings are driven by inspiration. The new generation is there. For me, surfing is not just a great sport that generates athletes, but a lifestyle. It changes you, it changes your feelings, your ability to overcome, conquer and have power. We definitely want to see more women in the water and waves being represented by her,” she comments.

Despite her passion for the waves, she is categorical: she would not face challenging waves. “Maya Gabeira is one of my best friends. For me, she is the greatest reference for a woman in surfing, she is the only one in the Guinness Book (Book of Records) with the biggest wave in the world, and every time she enters the sea and takes any cow, I cry. I understand her love and dedication, but I will always be apprehensive”, explains the actress, whose favorite place to surf is Praia de Grumari, in Rio de Janeiro, “360 degrees of nature”, she points out.
