In a podcast interview All Sports, from ItatiaiaMacris highlighted that the number of foreigners in each squad in Türkiye increases the level of competition.
“I see that the difference abroad is the number of foreigners. This changes the style of play in the championship. This makes it a different level. Here, of course, we have foreigners, but we play with the Brazilian style, with a lot of defense, technique,” he said.
According to regulations in Turkey, clubs can have up to five foreigners, three of whom can be on the court at the same time. In Brazil, the rule states that each team “may include up to 03 (three) foreign athletes in the nominal list, with a limit of 22 athletes, of which up to two may be of the same nationality and the third (if any) must be from another country”.
In Macris’ opinion, women’s volleyball has evolved a lot abroad and, as a result, the opponents are more powerful.
There, the global trend is increasingly to have the strongest, tallest athletes and turn that fight on the court. It’s a little different from what I saw here and experienced abroad. Block height and attack range,” she added.
Macris back to Brazil
Despite not mentioning Praia by name, the setter has an agreement with a team from Uberlândia. During the interview, Macris revealed the reasons for returning to Brazil.
“I felt it was time to return home. Mainly because of the moment I was living with my physical condition. Really trying to establish myself, all the ways to strengthen myself and recover physically in relation to my spinal injury. That was the best moment, I was happy to be able to come back,” she said.
