River Plate agrees to negotiate Esequiel Barco with Flamengo for R$ 108 million

O Flamengo continues to look for reinforcements for the next transfer window. One of the positions that is most sought after is that of a striker on the right side. Mais Querido’s possible target is midfielder Esequiel Barco, from River Plate.

According to information from the Argentine newspaper Crack Deportivo, Rubro-Negro is interested in signing Nico De la Cruz’s former partner for the next transfer window, which will open in July.

To complete the deal, however, the club will have to negotiate with the athlete who has a termination fine of 20 million euros, around R$108 million. That would be the same amount River is asking for.

“Flamengo is interested in midfielder Esequiel Barco, 25, from River Plate. The player has a contract until 2026 with the Argentine club, and his termination fine is 20 million euros (R$ 108 million).”wrote the periodical.

Boat is a fundamental part of the team

The Argentines’ strategy is similar to what was done with the Uruguayan. River understands that Fla is a direct competitor in the fight for titles and will only accept the amount corresponding to the athlete’s contractual fine.

The Argentine player has a contract with the Milionários until 2026. He received some inquiries from European football, but no official offers were formalized and he decided to return to his country.

His arrival in coach Martín Demichelis’ squad took place in January this year and is already one of the team’s fundamental pieces. But the coach has been under pressure and could end up being fired.

The commander’s fall could also cause River to accept a deal for the athlete, since the one who holds Barco in Argentina is precisely the commander, who has a fundamental leadership role.

Numbers and old dating

Before River, the midfielder played for Atlanta United, from MLS, where he also stood out. He was revealed in Argentina and decided to go to American football, but returned to resume his career.

In the current season, Barco has already played 18 matches. In his performances, he managed seven assists. If the deal is completed in the future, this would be Flamengo’s second signing of River Plate players this season, the first being Uruguayan midfielder De La Cruz.
