Nigerian Shola scored a great goal and assisted in Flamengo’s victory over Santos

Flamengo beat Santos, in Vila Belmiro, this Wednesday (24), in the fourth round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The star of the game was Nigerian striker Shola, who scored a great goal in the first half and assisted Felipe Teresa’s goal. Victor Silva also scored in stoppage time, making it 3-1. This way, Rubro-Negro moves up to six points, in eighth place.

For the game against Santos, coach Mário Jorge suffered from several absences ’caused’ by Tite. After all, as Flamengo will soon play against Bolívar (BOL), with an alternative team, several under-20 boys went on to the adult Libertadores duel. Tite’s cast includes: Caio Barone, Iago, José Welinton, Wallace Yan, Lorran, Rayan Lucas and Welinton.

THE GAME

Playing at home, Santos attacked Flamengo and came close to scoring in the first minutes. However, Rubro-Negro managed to control the second half of the initial stage and opened the scoring. In the 23rd minute, Nigerian Shola received a pass in the middle from full-back Lucyan, beat the opposing defense with speed and made a beautiful touch with the outside of his foot, in the opponent’s corner.

However, right at the beginning of the second half, Santos equalized. After a cross in the area, Mateus Xavier had two chances to finish to equalize the game, after three minutes. Undefeated and playing at home, the São Paulo team was close to turning the match around, but goalkeeper Lucão made good saves, securing a point for Flamengo.

When the game was heading towards a draw, Shola received the ball on the right wing, spun around the opponent’s marking, reached the bottom and crossed into the area. Center forward Felipe Teresa only had the job of pushing it into the net, guaranteeing Mais Querido the three points in the 37th minute. He still had time, in stoppage time, for Victor Silva to find the back of the net in stoppage time, with a great goal, after pedaling in front of his rival. It is important to highlight that Santos was undefeated in the competition, with two wins and a draw.

NEXT GAME

The red and black team returns to the field next Wednesday (01), against Cruzeiro, in Gávea. The ball starts at 2pm (Brasília time). The team from Minas Gerais is excited, as they beat Fortaleza this Wednesday (24), 1-0, in Minas Gerais. In total, the Belo Horizonte team has seven points, with two wins, one draw and one defeat.
