O Cássio’s strong outburst to ESPN after 1-0 defeat to Argentinos Juniors (ARG)in Buenos Aires, still resonates behind the scenes at the club.

According to the report, the board will meet with the goalkeeper to hear what the captain has to say. This even involves keeping number 12 as a starter.

According to a source consulted by ESPNthe archer’s speech has been treated seriously behind the scenes, and will be the subject of a meeting between the goalkeeper and board members at a meeting scheduled for this Thursday (25)at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava.

It is not ruled out that Cássio will be preserved among the reserves.

This, however, will be evaluated by the goalkeeper himself and the only evaluation criterion will be the athlete’s emotional side, and not the phase on the field. If it is understood that the moment is one of emotional exhaustion, something that was pointed out by the black and white idol, the athlete will have support from the management to be preserved.

In this scenario, Carlos Miguel would assume ownership at Corinthians already against Fluminenseon Sunday (28), for the 4th round of the Brazilian championship.

If he understands that he is capable of remaining in the starting line-up, the number 12 will remain in the team and with the captain’s armband.

“It’s by arriving in Brazil that we will understand Cássio better”, said Fabinho Soldado, executive director of Corinthians after the match for CONMEBOL South American. “We’ve already talked, but we need to understand the human being, the outburst (of considering leaving the club). We have to bring this case very carefully to the moment it is in to first help it so that it can continue to help us. The focus is to understand through a conversation to take the right action.”

Even though the outburst in Buenos Aires was publicly surprising due to its tone, in which the goalkeeper mentioned “being beaten like a dog” and did not rule out even leaving the club, Cássio’s moment of dissatisfaction did not arise now.

As I knew the ESPNthe goalkeeper was already showing “tiredness” with the sequence of turmoil at Corinthians since the beginning of the season, which was accentuated by the fact that there are fewer “hard” names in the squad to publicly share the high criticism of a mass club.

But contrary to the clamor that took over social media for him to be replaced among the starters, the team captain remains a trusted man in the “hard core” of football at Corinthians, as well as with president Augusto Melo, with whom he has strengthened ties since the manager took over the club.

Proof of this is that the renewal of Cássio, aged 36, has been discussed internally.

Second athlete with the most matches in Corinthians history (712 games), the goalkeeper has a contract with the club until December 2024.

“I’m the team captain and the oldest player. Sometimes it’s difficult, I’m a human being. I make mistakes and I don’t exempt myself from mistakes, I really say so. The coach and the president decide (my future). If I’m getting in the way of Corinthians and I’m not happy (I can leave)… it’s very difficult for me too”.

“In fact, everything wrong that happens at Corinthians is always on my mind. He doesn’t score a goal, it’s Cássio’s fault. The team doesn’t play well, it’s Cássio’s fault. He gets a penalty, it’s Cássio’s fault. I am very honest in the things I say. I have a lot of humility to know when I make a mistake. I confess that it is a difficult time. We have to open our eyes because there is a lot ahead of us! This start of the season has to be about learning and knowledge because we need to improve and we have to try to get out of this situation”, he told ESPNto complete the rant.

“Demanding is part of it, it’s just not part of it when it goes beyond the limits of things, lack of respect, in all feelings. Last year the older ones left. This year I’m one of the oldest and I knew the demands would be huge. Did I miss some goals? Yes, I was wrong! It seems like everything wrong at Corinthians is my fault! It seems like everything that goes wrong, I’m to blame. If I’m to blame, suddenly the best time is for me to leave and go on my way.”
