Jiri Prochazka considers moving to middleweight in the UFC

One of the most popular and feared light heavyweights (93 kg) in the world UFC may be changing. After knocking out Aleksandar Rakicin April, in Las Vegas (USA), Jiri Prochazkaformer champion of the category, informs that he is seriously considering venturing into middleweight (84 kg).

But, despite his interest in the adventure, the Czech makes it clear that it can only become a reality in the future, as he wants to be light heavyweight champion for the second time.

In fact, as he impressed at UFC 300, the athlete recovered and came close to challenging for the category belt again. In any case, Prochazka hinted that the weight cut to play in the 84 kg division would not be a problem.

“Instead of moving up to heavyweight, I thought I would try middleweight because of the way my metabolism feels right now and the way my body works in preparation.”

“I know if I adjust my diet to where I feel good and clean, I could handle the mids. I would definitely focus on that after winning the light heavyweight belt“, declared the former UFC champion, on his official channel on ‘YouTube‘.

Prochazka’s MMA Record

Jiri Prochazka, 31, has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the UFC. The Czech debuted for the company in 2020 and became light heavyweight champion in 2022.

For the organization, ‘Denisa’ knocked out Aleksandar Rakic, Volkan Oezdemir, Dominick Reyes and submitted Glover Teixeira. At Rizin FF, the fighter also won the category belt and knocked out Bruno Cappelozza, Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal and Vadim Nemkov.
