After a verbal agreement with Brazil’s Greatest Champion, the German brand needed to resolve some issues involving the contract renewal with Flamengo. The red-black board did not accept the company’s proposal as it was awaiting a definition of the values ​​of the business involving Alviverde.

Adidas was betting that it would finalize the agreement with Palmeiras and have two of the country’s main clubs in its portfolio, with Verdão filling the vacancy left by São Paulo, which signed this season with New Balance.

With this uncertainty, the Palmeiras leadership scheduled a meeting at the end of last week with Puma executives to finally finalize the competition process and declare the current supplier as victorious. At this meeting, some points were discussed regarding royalties, for example, and the hammer was struck.

Puma was the one who made the best offer, with a 25% adjustment in relation to the amount currently paid, totaling R$50 million annually – between cash and royalties. Furthermore, the new bond will have targets that could increase the figures to R$60 million.

The appreciation of Palmeiras in the brand’s campaigns and the relationship with retailers is also something that the club welcomes, favoring the current supplier in the fight for renewal.
