Sauber (Stake F1 Team) believes that the C44 car demonstrated at the Australian Formula 1 GP that it has enough pace to fight for points in all races in 2024.

The Swiss team was encouraged by its performance at the Albert Park circuit, despite failing to score points for the third consecutive race this season.

Team principal Alessandro Alunni Bravi believes Valtteri Bottas’ progress to Q2 and his promising race pace showed the team can challenge for points regularly.

Bravi acknowledged that gaining points for the constructors’ championship will be vital as the top five teams remain unbeatable.

“Of course we know that this championship will be extremely competitive, and the competition will be very tough until the last race,” Bravi told Autosport. “We’ve done three races, and we would be more worried if we didn’t have the pace to fight for the points, but we know we have that pace. Australia was a confirmation of this, so we need to look forward with confidence. This is the positive point we can take from the race”, said Bravi.

Despite the positive signs, the Hinwil team is still dealing with pit stop problems that hampered it at the start of 2024.

Bravi assures that Sauber is looking to resolve this issue as quickly as possible, and is optimistic that points will be possible when the team can have quieter weekends.

“Once we have corrected this problem at the pit stop, and we want to correct it as quickly as possible, we will have other opportunities to score points, because this is the level that our car has shown now, that we can be in the position to fight for points at all times. the races,” said Bravi.

For the Melbourne race, Sauber introduced a new front wing that contributed to better performance, and more updates are expected to arrive for the Suzuka weekend.

“This is the positive point we can take from the race. We also improved with the new front wing, both in qualifying and in the race, achieving a good balance. In Japan, we will also have a new update, the third of the season for the first four races. The priority now is to resolve these pit stop issues as quickly as possible”, concluded Bravi.
