STJD denied request in January

Alef Manga.

In January, the highest body of Sports Justice denied the conversion of half of the athlete’s sentence and frustrated the expectation of Manga’s return to the field.

The Court accepted the request to convert 50% of the penalty into a fine of R$60,000 and payment of basic food baskets, as per the prerogative provided for in the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD).

With the decision, Manga expected to be able to return to work at Coxa on January 27th.

Alef Manga’s sentence will complete nine months

In April, Manga completes nine months away from Brazilian football. During this period, he spent three months on loan at Pafos FC. At the Cyprus club, the striker made six appearances and did not score goals.

In October 2023, Pafos terminated the contract with the athlete after FIFA internationalized the punishment of players involved in a manipulation scheme.

On that occasion, he returned to Curitiba, where he trained with private professionals, until he was released to work at Coxa again last month.

The club’s objective with training is to strengthen the athlete for a possible return during Series B. Manga has a contract until the end of 2024 with Alviverde.

Coritiba debuts in Série B on April 19th, away from home, against Ponte Preta.

The team will not be able to count on striker Robson, who had to undergo surgery after an injury and will be missing Coxa in the first rounds of the Brazilian Championship.
