The billionaire and owner of X, formerly Twitter, Elon Musk, announced, this Thursday (9), a donation from Starlink (its satellite internet company) to collaborate with the work of rescuers with flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul. On social media, the state governor, Eduardo Leite, published his thanks.
“Thank you very much, Elon Musk, for donating 1000 Starlink satellite internet antennas. As the equipment will come with data services included throughout the period of calamity, it will be extremely useful during this period of reconstruction of our state!”, he wrote.
Earlier, Musk had published: “Given the terrible floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Starlink will donate 1,000 terminals to emergency teams and provide free use of all terminals in the region until the region recovers.”
The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul reported that the number of people killed as a result of the rains that have hit the state since the beginning of last week has reached 107. There are still 374 injured and 136 missing.
