Eduardo Leite said that he contacted the Gaucho bench in the Chamber and Senate about the state’s demands. The government will also send legislative proposals to Congress.

Leite also spoke again about RS’s debt to the Union. “There is no point in making resources available to the state if there is no legislative framework that takes the pressure off the budget, from commitments such as debt. […] Other obligations that the state has that will need to be suspended for a moment to provide financial breathing room.”

The RS government situation room, which carries out meteorological analyses, predicts a cold front this Wednesday (8) that could cause storms in all regions. Cold air advances on Thursday (9), lowering temperatures in the state. The forecast records minimums of 5°C and 11°C in the center-south. It is still raining heavily in the south of Rio Grande do Sul.

The governor also reported that he spoke by telephone with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, this Tuesday. “I understand that he has complexity in decision-making, and that [ele] understands the urgency. […] It will have to be urgent, and my concern is precisely that they not make decisions that do not consider the needs that the state actually has to have the financial, fiscal and administrative capacity for recovery”.

Leite announced R$70 million directly to municipalities for emergency actions. R$50 million will also be made available for 20 thousand families, R$10 million for hospitals, R$40 million for road repairs and R$30 million under Social Rent.
