It’s going to be cold. Get ready for a sudden drop in temperatures in the coming days, especially in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), an intense cold front is approaching the region, bringing with it polar air that promises to bring down the thermometers.
In the south of the state, the change will be quite significant from Wednesday (8), with thermometers plummeting.
Cities like Pelotas, Rio Grande and the entire Campanha area and west of the stateYou should feel the sudden change, with minimum temperatures expected between 4°C and 8°C. The arrival of polar air can also bring rain at the end of the day.
In the capital Porto Alegre, residents can expect a drop in minimum temperatures of around 12°C on Thursday (9), indicating the start of colder days.
The advance of the cold front is expected to extend across the state, impacting other regions, with minimum temperatures expected to reach 8°C in areas of the southwest, Planalto and Serra.
According to experts from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), cold and dry weather should prevail in most of the state throughout the week.
Still, it is important to keep up with weather updates, as changes in the weather pattern may occur.
Inmet recommends paying special attention to meteorological guidance and warnings made available on its official channels.
Cold and rain
Monday (6) and Tuesday (7):
- Northern and central half of the state:Hot and dry weather, with wind gusts above 60 km/h, especially in the Santa Maria region and slopes, and close to the Gaucho Plateau.
- South of the state and border with Uruguay: Heavy and temporary rains, with volumes that can exceed 100 mm in 24 hours in the extreme south. Winds with gusts above 70 km/h and hail are forecast.
Wednesday (8):
- Morning: Thunderstorms spread across the state due to the cold front.
- Afternoon: Cold and dry weather in the south and west of the state due to the entry of a high pressure system.
- Night: Instability ceases in most of the state.
Thursday (9):
- Cold and dry weather in most of the state.
- Night: Chance of rain in the north of the state.
- Minimum temperatures between 4°C and 8°C in the coldest areas of the southwest, Planalto and Serra.
- In Porto Alegre, minimum temperatures are around 12°C.
Friday (10):
- Instability returns during the day.
Weekend:
- Humid and gradually colder weather.
- Rain with more intensity in the north and east of the state.
- Drier weather in the south and west from Monday (13).
