After much waiting and in line with expectations, the Apple announced today, during the special event “Just imagine” (“Let loose”), you new 11 and 13 inch iPad Prowhich are equipped with the brand new M4 chipaccording to recent speculation.
The M4 chip has a 10-core CPU (4 performance and 6 efficiency), as well as a 10-core GPU and Neural Engine 16 cores (capable of performing 38 trillion operations per second).
Furthermore, the M4 chip includes features already available with the M3 and A17 Pro chips in terms of hardware acceleration, such as support for ray tracing accelerated by hardware and technologies such as mesh shading It is Dynamic Caching.
The M4 integrates AV1 decoding support, a next-generation codec that offers better compression efficiency, paving the way for smoother streaming of 4K video content.
The real highlight of the new chip is, however, its performance in artificial intelligenceso that tasks involving machine learning and data interpretation are performed faster.
Display
As expected, OLED technology arrives on the iPad for the first time with the so-called display Ultra Retina XDR.
According to Apple, a single OLED panel does not generate enough brightness, which is why a state-of-the-art display was developed that uses two panels of this type — a technology called Tandem OLED — and combines light from both to provide even better brightness.
With this, the new iPads Pro can reach 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness in SDR and HDR content and up to 1,600 nits of maximum brightness for HDR content.
Design
With this new design, both new models are incredibly thin: 5.3mm for the 11″ model and 5.1mm for the 13″. It’s even thinner than the iPod Nano — making it the thinnest Apple product ever.
