Minutes before she was killed, the young woman shared a photo of the dish she ordered at the restaurant. The post was made on Instagram, where she has more than 150 thousand followers. Landy was a candidate for Miss Ecuador, representing the province of Los Ríos, and, among the 18 candidates, she came in fifth place. The young woman has also participated in several beauty contests in the country, La Nación reported.
Police say they are collecting information and evidence about Landy’s murder. The local Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that it attended the scene of the crime and is investigating responsibilities in the case.
Influencer’s name appeared under investigation
The influencer’s name appeared in an investigation into the structure of organized crime in December 2023. The operation, known as the Metástasis case, has already left several people detained. In conversations obtained by the Public Ministry, drug trafficker Leandro Norero (died in prison in 2022) commented to his accountant, Helive Angulo, that Landy’s name appeared in an investigation for money laundering.
At the time, Norero would have said that he did not want the former candidate to be linked to him. “If my wife finds out anything about her [Landy], I’m screwed. My friend, her name cannot appear anywhere. Otherwise, my world will collapse”, the drug trafficker was quoted as saying, according to the Daily Mail.
