Galena disappeared from her home on April 10th. The family searched the house, the surroundings of the property and the neighborhood for a week. They made posters that they published in the city of Lehi, where she lived, in the state of Utah, in the United States, and on social media.
Seven days later, on April 17, Galena was located almost 900 kilometers away, in Los Angeles, California.
The person who called Galena’s family was a veterinarian. Galena, a cat, had been found in a box with five work boots inside an Amazon logistics warehouse.
Carrie Clark, the owner of Galena the cat, thought the call from the California veterinarian was a prank.
She only realized what happened when she heard the description of the box in which the cat was found.
The husband tried on five boots to order. When he didn’t like it, she sent it back. The cat Galena entered the box that was returned. She spent six days without food or water, but survived.
An employee of the online store rescued the cat in the logistics center. She took care of the animal until she handed her over to a veterinarian.
Carrie, the cat’s owner, bought a ticket for the next day to rescue the pet.
