The government announced this Thursday (25) that it will readjust food allowances for federal public servants by 52%. The price was agreed after a round of negotiations with the category.
Thus, the benefit will increase from R$658 to R$1,000 from June 1st.
The agreement reached with the category also includes an increase in health aid, from R$144.38 to around R$215.
The daycare allowance goes from R$321 to R$484.90.
The adjustments occur at a time when the government is facing a strike by teachers and other employees at federal universities and federal institutes. The Planalto Palace’s interest is that the strike movement does not spread to civil servants.
In the accounts of the Ministry of Management, the adjustments granted in civil service benefits will represent an income gain of more than 4.5%, on average, for the 200 thousand federal workers who earn up to R$9 thousand. For those who earn the lowest amounts in civil service, this gain in average income will reach 23%, according to the ministry.
Teachers and employees went on strike at 61 universities and federal institutes in the country
