‘Jumped on his daughter’: father arrested on suspicion of killing 18-year-old girl in SP

The 39-year-old man suspected of killing his own daughter and hide the victim’s body in a hole on a road in the center of São Paulo confessed that he committed the crime after having an argument with the young woman and strangling her to death, according to the police. O crime It happened last Sunday, the 24th, at the home of the girl’s father, identified by the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) as Wellington da Silva Rosas.

According to the police, the suspect said in his statement that he and his daughter, Rayssa Santos da Silva, had started a fight after the man understood that the young woman was encouraging her mother, separated from Wellington, to date other people. According to investigations, the man did not accept the separation, which would have happened less than a year ago.

Wellington would also have confessed that he went to work on Monday, the 25th, and kept his daughter’s body in his apartment, on Rua Santo Amaro, in Bela Vista, the center of the capital, until the evening.

At around 8pm, he says he placed his daughter’s body in a cardboard box and transported the corpse with the help of a cart to the loop that gives access to Avenida 23 de Maio. The action was also recorded by the building’s monitoring cameras. See below.

The body was found hours later, on the morning of last Tuesday, the 26th. The body was charred and the suspicion is that Rayssa’s father had set fire to his daughter’s body or paid a homeless man to do the job. .

According to the director of the DHPP, Ivalda Aleixo, Wellington had sent a message to his ex-wife saying that “he had done something stupid”, and that she would suffer “the pain of losing someone very dear”.

The suspect also said that his daughter was near Avenida 23 de Maio, and that the mother, when she came across the body, recognized Rayssa due to the presence of the earring.

“The version we have of the mother is that he (Wellington) thought the separation had happened because Rayssa had influenced his wife to leave him”, says Ivalda. “And the motivation he gave us is that he did not accept the end of the relationship with the woman he was with for 18 years, and he killed his daughter to get revenge for her not wanting to be with him anymore”, he added.

According to the director, the police searched Wellington’s home and work, but the suspect was not located. “He was already gone. But while we were looking for him, we had access to images of the building and saw him leaving with a large cardboard box,” she says.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Wellington Rosas was located in the north of São Paulo and taken to the DHPP, where he confessed to Rayssa’s murder.

“He says that his daughter went to his house on Sunday, that they were sitting, drinking and talking and that, at a certain point, he had understood that his daughter was trying to find her mother a boyfriend, and that made him angry,” he says. Ivalda.

“He then jumped on top of his daughter, choked her to death, left her body there, slept and went to work on Monday. At night, he returned home, put the body in the box, on the cart, and went to 23 de Maio”, described the director of the Homicide and Personal Protection Department.

Asked if he showed regret during the confession, she denied it. “None. He spoke coldly,” she said.

The police are still awaiting DNA tests to confirm that the body is Rayssa’s, and are still investigating to find out who was responsible for setting the victim on fire.

In Wellington’s version, he would have given R$10 to a homeless man to do the job, and that man would already have ethanol on hand to light and intensify the flames.

The DHPP managed to locate the homeless man, who denied the suspect’s version. The man, who was not identified, told officers he fled after realizing the contents of the box were a person’s body.

“We have no image of that moment. But, in any case, Wellington confessed that he killed his daughter by strangling her, that he left her body in the apartment, that he got rid of the body, and that he gave R$10 to a homeless person to set the fire”, says Ivalda Aleixo.

Wellington was charged with the destruction of a corpse, and the DHPP opened an investigation and asked the Court for preventive detention of the suspect for the triple homicide — due to asphyxiation, because it was committed in a way in which the victim could not defend himself and for feminicide . He underwent a custody hearing this Wednesday, the 27th, and remains in custody.

Wellington Rosas already had a police record for armed robbery, attempted murder and drug trafficking. The suspect’s defense was not located by the report.
