There is no talk of anything other than the free show by pop queen Madonna on Copacabana Beach, south of Rio de Janeiro, this Saturday (4). The lucrative tour is expected to increase the singer’s net worth, estimated at around US$580 million by Forbes magazine. But would it be possible to capture a relevant share of 10 largest Brazilian companies on the market with that money in hand if she invested in stocks?

Initially with 38 performances held in North America and Europe, the tour grew with high demand, reaching the mark of 81 performances this Saturday. Still, this is not the most lucrative round of performances in the diva’s career. In 2009, with the Sticky & Sweet Tour, Madonna earned US$407.7 million, with more than 3.5 million tickets sold over 85 shows.

Could Madonna become the main partner of Petrobras and Vale, for example?

Even with assets of almost US$600 million, Madonna’s fortune would still be insignificant compared to the values of the largest companies listed on B3, such as Petrobras (PETR3), (PETR4) and Vale (VALE3), highlighted here because they are always present in recommended portfolios from brokers and banks. This is what the survey by Einar Rivero, from Elos Ayta Consultoria, at the request of the E-Investor.

The market values of Petrobras and Vale are 108.3 and 52.3 billion, respectively. Therefore, the maximum the singer would get would be 0.54% and 1.11% of the companies’ market value. If she divided her investment equally between the two, the diva could acquire approximately 33,296,463 shares of PETR3 and 23,121,829 shares of VALE3.

According to CM Capital’s quantitative analyst, Nilson Marcelo, Madonna can also become a partner in these companies by acquiring their ADRs (American Depositary Receipts, receipts that allow investors to purchase shares in non-American companies in the US) traded on the American market.

Petrobras’ ADR (PBR) is quoted at US$ 17.36. With US$580 million, she could buy around 33,419,689 ADRs, making her one of the company’s largest individual shareholders. Vale’s ADR is quoted at US$12.50, allowing Madonna to purchase approximately 46,400,000 ADRs and acquire a significant position in the mining company.

Dividing her investment equally, Madonna could purchase approximately 16,709,844 ADRs from Petrobras and 23,200,000 ADRs from Vale.
