Actor Joe Alwyn doesn’t want to talk about his ex-girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift, in his next conversations with the press. According to sources from the Daily Mail newspaper, the Brit banned the subject from interviews related to the film ‘Kinds of Kindness’, his next big-screen project.
Alwyn, 33, and Swift, 34, had a six-year relationship between 2017 and 2023. According to fan reports, the artist’s most recent album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, contains references to what went wrong in their romance .
It is nothing new that Taylor, in fact, uses her own compositions to allude to themes from her personal life. On the same album, for example, there is a track with clear mentions of socialite and businesswoman Kim Kardashian, with whom she fell out almost a decade ago. Musician Matt Healy, who had a brief involvement with the singer after her breakup with Alwyn, is also the focus of some of the more than 30 tracks on the project.
“There was no contact between them,” a source told the outlet. “She didn’t show him the songs beforehand, and he didn’t even expect her to do that.”
Although not surprised, Alwyn was “slightly disappointed” with the album.
“Joe heard it and was slightly disappointed, but not at all surprised. She didn’t smear him, so Joe won’t react,” the insider added.
Joe even knows Swift’s creative process, as he worked with her on songs from the albums ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’. “Taylor uses her relationships for almost all of her songs. He admires her talent,” the source revealed, before noting that the actor “has made a lot of money off the six tracks he’s written for Taylor in the past.”
With the arrival of ‘Kinds of Kindness’ in June this year, Alwyn wants to avoid controversy and focus solely on his work. The film will be directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, filmmaker behind ‘Poor Creatures’, and will also feature Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer in the cast.
“He has a movie coming up and he’s focused on that. He’ll give interviews, but he won’t answer questions about Taylor Swift. Joe has moved on. He doesn’t hold any grudges because he knows that’s her job,” the insider added.
Previously, Joe Alwyn had already refused to talk about the matter. “People on the street wouldn’t tell details of their lives to strangers on the street. Why would I do that?” the actor declared before his breakup last year.
