Almost 20 years later, Rotting Christ singer talks about Dave Mustaine’s “piti”

-

Greek musician Sakis Tolis, vocalist and guitarist of the Black Metal band Rotting Christ, gave an interview to the website Blabbermouth. One of the points covered during the interview was an episode that occurred in 2005, when Dave Mustaine, leader of Megadeth, threatened to remove his band from the cast of an event that would also feature the presence of Rotting Christ. Mustaine, who is Christian, did not want to perform alongside “satanic” bands.

“You know what, I’m the kind of person who isn’t violent. It takes a lot to offend me. He has the right to do whatever he wants. I didn’t like the idea. I don’t like censorship, but I have my own ideas about that. I would never censor someone. I would never do the same myself”, said Sakis, who apparently is not very good friends with the Megadeth leader.

“We are metalheads. We choose our own path. It’s against society, the system and everything. If someone from the Metal community acts like that, I don’t give a shit, but I won’t respect them. That’s it. That’s all. I’ll never say something more about him.”

Rotting Christ’s next work is “Pro Xristou”, which is scheduled for release on May 24, 2024.
