Originally released in 2020, the drama ‘Four Days with Her’ is available in the catalog Netflix, taking 3rd position among the most watched films of the week.

Written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia (‘Destinies Linked’), the film revolves around Deb (Glenn Close), who tries to help his daughter Molly (Mila Kunis) recovering from drug abuse.

With her mother’s help, Molly struggles to manage four days without using drugs. However, after years apart, this reunion unearths the troubled past between the two.

Throughout the plot, it is revealed that Deb deals with the guilt she feels for being unable to fully trust her daughter after years of being deceived and stolen by Molly, who sank deeper and deeper to support her addiction.

Written by Eli Saslowthe article details Amanda’s days after she decides to move back in with her mother, her failed attempts to stay clean with the prospect of receiving an injection of naltrexone, used to stop her addiction to chemical substances.

At the same time that Libby tries to encourage her daughter, she struggles with guilt for having indirectly allowed Amanda to become addicted, as she neglected her during her adolescence.

One of the most memorable moments in both the article and the film is when Amanda/Molly relapses and reschedules her injection without her mother’s knowledge.

However, as she had relapsed, she begged her mother to provide a urine sample as hers would be rejected.

The lie ends with a serious consequence when the injection causes an abrupt withdrawal in Amanda/Molly’s body, as she contained opioids in her vascular system.

Don’t forget to watch:

In the article, Libby and Amanda end up in the emergency room of a medical clinic in an attempt to remedy the situation, but it is never revealed whether Amanda managed to get clean or not is never resolved.

Already in ‘Four Days With Her’the plot ends with Molly being sent to recovery, four months after her abstinence and relapse.

As with most films inspired by true stories, the audience wonders what happened to the people on whom the works were based.

In Amanda’s case, she gave a statement to Fox News in 2021, testifying that drug addicts can, in fact, get off drugs with the right help.

“We recovered… I am a living testimony to that”she said. “I attended more than 20 different rehabilitation rooms, but… With therapy and meetings, recovery is possible.”

On social media, the platform’s subscribers shared very positive messages about the film.

Despite arguing that the plot is rushed at the end, subscribers were moved by the characters’ trajectory, claiming that they even cried with emotion.
