Dead Detective Boys (Netflix)

Based on Neil Gaiman’s comics that share the same universe as Sandman, the series revolves around two teenage ghosts. They met in death and became great friends, creating a Dead Boys Detective Agency, in which they join forces in search of solving paranormal cases. Alongside a clairvoyant friend, they live macabre adventures that involve everything from witches to demons. Premiere: April 25th.

Last year, The Color Purple, The book by Alice Walker, published in 1982, was released in cinemas by Ghanaian director Blitz Bazawule. The plot follows Celie (Fantasia Barrino), an African-American woman who lives in the southern United States at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to facing racism in her daily life, she deals with the trauma left by the abuse of her father and husband. In the midst of her pain, she finds support and strength in a group of women like her, creating a sisterhood. The musical film received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress, for Danielle Brooks’ brilliant performance as Sofia. Premiere: April 26th.

Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story (Star+)

In 2022, Jon Bon Jovi had to undergo surgery due to an injury to his vocal cords. The distressing moment cast doubt on the future of one of the best-known rock bands in the world – all recorded in real time, and now presented in the Star+ documentary series. Over the course of four episodes, the production celebrates the brilliant past of Bon Jovi and its leader and vocalist, as well as attempts to plan for an uncertain future. The material also contains personal videos recorded over the decades, old demos and unpublished photos. Premiere: April 26th.

Secrets of a Scandal (Prime Video)

Competing for the Oscar for best original screenplay, Todd Haynes’ film was inspired by a case of pedophilia. The plot follows actress Elizabeth (Natalie Portman), who starts living with Gracie (Julianne Moore), a housewife who will inspire her next character, to study her. The woman has a strange relationship with her husband, Joe (Charles Melton), 23 years younger than her. Elizabeth starts to follow all of Gracie’s mannerisms, and ends up exceeding the limits of what is acceptable. Premiere: April 30th.

Two women engage in a dangerous game of truth and lies on a trip from Istanbul to Paris and London. One of them holds a deadly secret, and the other must decipher it to save thousands of lives. Meanwhile, intelligence agencies must work together to prevent disaster. The suspense miniseries has a script by Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blindersand the award-winning Elisabeth Moss in the cast. Premiere: April 30th.
