Stan Winston and his team were responsible for creating the T-Rex, an animatronic to rule them all. It was 6.1 meters high, 12 meters long and weighed almost eight tons. In fact, it could move at up to 60 miles per hour (something archaeologists aren’t entirely sure about).

Rexy, as this fictional tyrannosaur was commonly called, just didn’t appear in The Lost World – Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park 3. In the rest of the saga, he is more than present.

And the animatronic had a problem at a certain point: Rexy was missing a tooth, which got lost somewhere and no one could find it. Spielberg, who couldn’t wait much longer to film, said, “Screw it, let’s forget about it and make the movie without the tooth.” And to this day, the smile is as terrifying as it is canonically toothless.

Originally, by the way, in the initial drafts, Phil Tippett called the dinosaur “Roberta” before the name, which appears in the original novel and became famous among fans, became popular. Rexy, the toothless one. It’s impossible not to like her.
