Approved by state parliamentarians in the second phase of discussion and voting, on the morning of this Wednesday, 8th, principles and guidelines for preventing and combating domestic and family violence against children and adolescents within the State of Tocantins. The matter was initiated by deputy Professor Júnior Geo (PSDB).

“The agenda is extremely important, given that child violence has always existed, however, there was an unacceptable omission in relation to the disclosure of cases”, warned the parliamentarian.

Geo recalls that throughout the 21st century, countless cases have been exposed and society vehemently repudiates the atrocities committed against defenseless children and adolescents.

In most cases, violence is caused by those who should provide the fundamental rights inherent to the person, that is, their family members and people very close to the victim or their family.”, highlights the deputy.

Also authored by Geo, the bill establishing the right of mothers to breastfeed their children up to six months of age during public competitions for direct and indirect public administration in the State of Tocantins was approved.

Other projects

Among the approved proposals is one authored by deputy Léo Barbosa (Republicans) which prohibits private health plan operators operating in the State of Tocantins from suspending or canceling, without just cause and without prior notice, the provision of their services to consumers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

According to Leo, in recent times the practice of canceling the health plans of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder has become recurrent, without any prior notice or attempt at negotiation. “We consider this practice, in addition to being abusive and illegal, to be completely inhumane.”, he said.

The republican’s project had as an annex a text with similar content, presented by deputy Jair Farias (UB).

The establishment of the State Day of Appreciation for Health Professionals, to be celebrated annually on April 7, is due to an initiative proposal by legislator Professor Janad Valcari (PL).

The last article to be highlighted is authored by parliamentarian Jorge Frederico (Republicans). It changes article 1 of Resolution No. 362/2022, which provides for the Solemn Session to commemorate the official date of founding of the Grand Orient of Brazil in Tocantins, that is, it defines the date of commemoration in the Tocantins Parliament of the founding of Freemasonry in Brazil . Therefore, the Legislative Assembly is authorized to hold, annually, a Solemn Session in celebration of Freemason Day, on August 20th.
