The Government of the State of São Paulo launched the “Agro SP Solidário” campaign, this Tuesday (7). The initiative by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply mobilizes the São Paulo agricultural sector in support of rural and urban communities affected by the climate disaster in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The Government of São Paulo will offer donations and technical support to producers affected by the tragedy.

“Agro SP Solidário” carries out campaigns to collect food and financial resources to purchase water and cleaning products. The distribution of food and emergency use items produced by the agricultural sector in São Paulo is also planned. The actions are in partnership with the Social Solidarity Fund of the State of São Paulo (FUSSP).

In addition, the program also offers training and technical support to rural producers and family farmers in the resumption of production and economy in Rio Grande do Sul. The main objective is to strengthen the network of solidarity and partnerships between public and private entities and civil society organizations , aiming to ensure an effective and coordinated response to the emergency needs of affected communities.

How Agro SP Solidário works

  • 1st Front: The Comprehensive Technical Assistance Coordination (Cati) will receive donations at all of its Agricultural and Regional Houses, with all material received being sent to the Social Solidarity Fund of the State of São Paulo.
  • 2nd Front: The Coordination of the Sectoral and Thematic Chambers, with the presidents of each Sectoral Chamber, will purchase drinking water and cleaning materials with donations received from people and entities in the state’s agricultural sector, with all material purchased being sent to the Fund São Paulo Social.
  • 3rd Front: The Department of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo will provide the Government of Rio Grande do Sul with technical and scientific support for research and extension actions that can directly support producers affected by the tragedy. An initial group of 30 extension workers will be made available to support the reestablishment of agricultural activities in Rio Grande do Sul.

“Our technical staff will be fully available to assist extension agents and rural producers in reestablishing productive activities in our sister state, Rio Grande do Sul”, said Ricardo Domingos Pereira, coordinator of Cati.

About Agro SP Solidário

“AgroSP Solidário” is an initiative of the Government of SP, together with the productive sector, to promote the well-being and food security of populations affected by the calamity in Rio Grande do Sul and, at the same time, value and support the agricultural sector in the state of São Paulo and partner entities in promoting sustainable development amid climate change.

Humanitarian campaign for Rio Grande do Sul

The São Paulo Social Fund and the State Civil Defense began this Wednesday (8) a new stage in the humanitarian campaign to collect donations. From now on, donations of basic food baskets and non-perishable food within the expiration date will be received to be sent to the State.

The guideline is that people prioritize the donation of drinking water and cleaning products (such as bleach, disinfectant, bar soap, trash bags, etc.) and hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo and conditioner, etc. ).

The materials can be delivered to the Social Fund warehouse, at Av. Marechal Mário Guedes, 301, in Jaguaré, as well as to all Poupatempo service points in the State and Sabesp service units. Furthermore, from today onwards, companies linked to the Metropolitan Transport Secretariat (STM) – CPTM and Metrô – began receiving donations of canned food to be taken to Rio Grande do Sul. The food must be within its expiration date, well preserved and properly packaged.
