To come into force, the matter still needs to be approved by the Senate and sanctioned by the Presidency of the Republic.

The project also provides that companies must offer tracking services for transported animals. Airports with circulation of more than 600 thousand passengers per year must have veterinarians to monitor the boarding, disembarking and accommodation procedures of passengers. pets.

Joca case

Last week, several airports in the country registered demonstrations in favor of regulating the air transport of animals.

The mobilization occurred after the death of Joca, a Golden retriever four-year-old who died during a flight operated by Gol.

Last month, Joca was dispatched by his tutor in São Paulo to Sinop (MT). However, the shipping box was put on a flight to Fortaleza. Then, the dog was sent back to São Paulo. On the way back, Joca couldn’t handle the total eight hours of travel and died.

After the episode, the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) and the São Paulo Civil Police began to investigate the case.

In a note released after the episode, Gol expressed solidarity and regretted the loss of the animal. The company also announced the suspension, for 30 days, of air transport of animals.
