The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD)used his social network, this Wednesday (8), to address a conflict of dates between the holding of the first round of municipal elections, which take place on October 6th, and the Bruno Marswhich would happen, on the 5th, in Nilton Santos StadiumO Engenhãoat North Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
The mayor stated that he would have informed Mars production that preparations for the election require a large contingent of professionals, in addition to special care in the city’s traffic conditions. Therefore, Eduardo Paes announced that he will not authorize the show, which would have had an extra edition, on October 5th.
“The electoral process requires a very large mobilization of civil servants to take place. This occurs mainly in relation to the police forces and the Municipal Guard. To imagine that any major event will take place in Rio de Janeiro (I would even say in Brazil) on the eve of the elections is absurd due to the need to mobilize a large number of these same public agents”, wrote Paes, adding that the City Hall had contacted the singer’s production team on the same day the show date was announced, yet tickets for the event went on sale, with full sale within a few hours.
“We informed this to the production of the artist Bruno Mars’ show on the same day as the October 4th date for the show in Rio de Janeiro was announced. Even so, they sold tickets. The city of Rio de Janeiro did not and will not give authorization for the aforementioned show during election week. If the warnings given were not enough, let this publication serve to avoid imagining that an irreversible situation will be created. Outside of this period, it will be an honor to welcome the artist Bruno Mars to the city of Rio”, said Eduardo Paes.
With the success of sales for the show, which would be on the 4th, the North American singer’s production would have announced an extra date for the 5th in Rio, with pre-sale this Thursday (9), and general sale, on Friday- fair (10).
